GIVE THANKS

Image
THANKSGIVING AS A LIFESTYLE... A song writer once said "Give thanks with a grateful heart" and I totally agree with that, I'm so in love with that song...you can't imagine lol. We should be wired to give thanks to God as our lifestyle and not a choice. Today is supposed to be my mid-year thanksgiving in church but I am caught up at work. I woke up with mixed emotions, sad that I will be working whereas my mates are in church celebrating thanksgiving. But then again I thought of the fact that thanksgiving requires more than just your presence but a grateful heart. There is no reason why you should not say "Thank you Jesus" every morning when you wake up. Its more than just a gift to be alive everyday, It is a miracle. Recently, my brother was telling me about a friend who lost another friend in a ghastly motor accident. I was so inquisitive that I went as far as researching on the dead girl. I couldn't hold back my tears as I went through her Fac...

Photo above: Rima Fakih, former Miss Michigan, was crowned Miss USA in 2010  This lady who was believed to be the first Muslim to win the title when she was crowned Miss USA in 2010 has converted to Christianity on 5th May, 2016. In a Huffington Post interview in 2010 she said: “We’re more of a spiritual family. Religion really doesn’t define me or my family. My family’s been very liberal, and we appreciate all different kinds of religions.” She said: “We’d go to church on Easter. We always had a Christmas tree and every year we go the Radio City Christmas Show, and watch Miracle on 34th Street. But we celebrate some of the Islamic holidays as well.” According to Albawaba, It was only when she went to university in the US that Fakih connected with her Muslim roots: “When I went to the University of Michigan, because there’s more of a Muslim community, my dad wanted me to learn more about Islam,” she said. “I didn’t know much about Ramadan and other holidays, and my ...

WHAT YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT CHEATING (2)

Image
Hi guys, here is the conclusion from our last episode on some facts we didn't know about cheating. Overtime, study has shown that men with deep voices are perceived as cheaters lol, personally, I crush on guys with deep voices. I once read in an Evolutionary psychology published journal that men with deep voices are most likely to cheat on their partners and women with high pitch voice are most likely to be unfaithful. This balls down to the hormones - the more testosterone a man has, the lower his voice and the more estrogen a woman has, the higher her voice is likely to be. Over the years cheating has been confusing. A lot of people don't really know what is termed as cheating. Even researchers and clinicians cant even pin-point the behavioral pattern that constitute infidelity, its not until a partner has sex with another outside his relationship or marriage that we term as cheating. I carried out a survey sometime ago among a group of married and singles, their answers am...

Xenophobia or Afrophobia: Is it the fear of foreigners or the fear of fellow Africans? by Mary Izobo – International Human Rights Lawyer

Xenophobia or Afrophobia: Is it the fear of foreigners or the fear of fellow Africans? I am what you would call a nomadic African who has not had the luxury of being sedentary. In my twenty-something years, I have lived in five countries and still counting. South Africa, where I recently completed a Master’s degree is my latest home. However, I have felt more unwelcome in South Africa than anywhere else. In 2007, when I first arrived in Pretoria, a policeman stopped my car to check where I was from, because apparently, I looked ‘different’. As soon as I said I am from Nigeria, he asked for my bags which he proceeded to search it disparagingly, as if it contained pieces of dirt, and not my treasured valuables. He then demanded to search my handbag. By this time I had had enough of his disrespectful behaviour, so I refused to give him my handbag. I pointed out that by law, no policeman is allowed to search a female handbag without a warrant of arrest and only if I was charg...

WHAT YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT CHEATING (1)

Image
Cheating has been in existence from time immemorial and it has been passed down through generations. Cheating is common among friends, partners, siblings and even in religious places, its everywhere. I am going to talk about the cheating that exists between partners in a relationship. Men naturally like to make women feel secured and women enjoy making the men feel they are in charge. Its possible to feel romantic love for someone and be sexually attracted to another, romantic love usually makes us direct all our attention to one person. Hence attachment follows suit and then commitment because we feel a level of security with that person which often leads to a long term relationship. Just because someone cheats on their long term partners doesn't mean they don't still love them... Another fact we don't know is that cheaters ain't necessarily unhappy in their relationships. Study shows that once a relationship starts to settle in and gets exciting, people will alway...
